Grilon Thermoformable Yarn
Grilon (Thermoformable Yarn).
Grilon pure fusible bonding yarn is a low melt Nylon, Co-PA (copolyamide) multifilament, used for technical applications in the textile industry worldwide.
Spun in Switzerland, Grilon's low melting fusible yarn can be used for moulding knitted fabric into a shape. At 85oC (k-85) & 110oC (k-110) this thermoformable yarn will melt, becoming a bonding and adhesive agent.
Some possible applications are: bonded hems, various seams, patch pockets, trouser waistbands, in bonded sewing thread - bratubes, edge bonding for lace and elastic fabrics, iron-on embroidery and thermo-adhesive labels.
Grilon K-85 840 Decitex (1/12 Nm), 100 T/M, 68 filaments. 50g cone = 600 metres.
Grilon K-110 390 Decitex (1/26 Nm), 100 T/M, 34 filaments. 50g cone = 1300 metres.
Helpful Hints:
Can be stitched, knitted, woven or added into a garment for creating an effect. Once the affected parts have been heat-treated to activate the thermo-reactive properties of the Grilon yarn, in the cooling phase, the yarn acquires an increasing rigidity that allows it to maintain its shape. Machine washable but hand wash recommended.
